PELD COFA – Functional Connectivity and Anthropic Disturbs – a Long-term Ecological Project

The project addresses the effects of anthropic landscape modification and disturbs in biodiversity, ecosystem function and ecosystem services in one of the most important agribusiness regions of Brazil. The studied area comprises the Rio Vermelho basin, in the central area of the state of Goias, a core-area of the Brazillian Cerrado. The focal area includes a conservation unit (National Forest of Silvânia) and the district of Silvânia and its citizens in the town and countryside. The project will focus in the survey of the aquatic biodiversity (fishes, zooplankton and phytoplankton), invertebrate biodiversity (bees and termites), vertebrates (anuran fauna) and plants, and how this biodiversity is affected by anthropic landscape modification and use of agrochemical and fertilizers.
